If you ever find yourself in Southeast Pennsylvania, I recommend that you stop in and visit the impressive, family-owned and operated business of Isaac Stoltzfus and sons. Spring Garden Repair evolved from a farm equipment service center in Kinsers, Pennsylvania. Starting in 1960, Spring Garden Repair provided this service to both the general public and their local Amish community. Over the years, Isaac chose to focus on the engine side of the business and step away from the equipment side at Spring Garden Repair.
When I visited Isaac and his sons, I was very impressed by the level of ingenuity in their operation. You see, Isaac is Amish, and therefore chooses doctrine which impacts operating the machine shop. That said, “necessity is the mother of invention” and “where there is a will, there is a way” is quite fitting for what I observed during my entire visit. Although Spring Garden is off the grid, per se, but they are very much on their game.
