One of the most important pieces of the puzzle in the engine building industry is the equipment to machine cylinders, blocks, rods, crankshafts, and other engine components. If that piece of equipment is running, more than likely, it is making money — and if it’s not running, no money is being made.
All pieces of equipment are mechanical, which means that things can break and those failures are out of our control. However, sometimes equipment breakdowns are due to things we can control, and that is where “maintenance” comes into play.
There are a few different types of maintenance: planned, corrective and routine. We will cover these, as well as some other things that might be of help.
